Ingredients for 6 servings

1/2 cup dry white wine or chicken broth

8 ounces fully cooked smoked turkey sausage, halved lengthwise and cut into 1/2 inch slices

14 1/2 ounces Italian-style stewed tomatoes

1 tablespoon snipped fresh parsley

1 bay leaf

1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper

8 ounces boneless skinless chicken thighs

30 ounces white kidney beans or great northern beans , rinsed and drained

1 medium sweet red pepper or green sweet pepper , cut into 1/2 inch pieces

1 teaspoon dried thyme , crushed

1 1/2 cups chicken broth

3 garlic cloves , minced

1 cup chopped onion

2 medium carrots , cut into 1/2 inch pieces
