  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 TB. olive oil
  • 1 TB. TURKISH OREGANO
  • 2 tsp. GROUND BLACK PEPPER
  • 2 tsp. GRANULATED GARLIC
  • 1 tsp. WHOLE FENNEL SEED, crushed
  • 1/4 tsp. CAYENNE PEPPER
  • 2 TB. CALIFORNIA BASIL
  • 1/4 Cup balsamic vinegar
  • 3 28 oz. cans diced tomatoes with juice
  • 1-2 TB. tomato paste, if needed
  • 1-1 1/2 lbs. spaghetti noodles, cooked according to package directions
  • 1 lb. ground chuck
  • 1/2 Cup dry, unseasoned bread crumbs
  • 1/4 Cup grated Parmesan or Romano cheese
  • 1 small onion, minced (about 1/2 Cup)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 Cup tomato sauce (buy an 8 oz. can, use half in the meatballs and add the rest to the sauce)
  • 1 TB. CALIFORNIA BASIL
  • 1 TB. PARSLEY
  • 1/4 tsp. GROUND BLACK PEPPER
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
