1 teaspoon Diamond Crystal brand kosher salt

2 tablespoons trans-fat-free shortening

3/4 cup sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon grated lemon zest

1/2 cup milk

1/4 cup sour cream

1 teaspoon vanilla

Vegetable oil, for frying

Powdered sugar, for sprinkling

3/4 cup strawberry jelly (or flavor of your choice)
