1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

1/2 teaspoon brown sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/3 cup reduced-sodium chicken broth, (see Tips for Two)

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons chopped dried apricots

1 tablespoon cider vinegar, or white-wine vinegar

1 1/2 tablespoons minced shallot, or onion

1 teaspoon chopped fresh mint, or 1/4 teaspoon dried

2 teaspoons canola oil

1 1/2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger

1/3 cup apricot or peach nectar, (see Tips for Two)
