I'll definitely make this cake again but I'll use half as much sugar. Also, once I dropped the temp to 325 I only baked the cake for an additional 37 minutes... Not the hour that the recipe suggests.

One of my all time favorites. So easy! I have made this recipe using a cupcake tin and liners in addition to the cake and it was equally as good. Either way It is a yummier alternative to strawberry shortcake!

6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened, plus more for pie plate

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar

1 large egg

1/2 cup milk

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1 pound strawberries, hulled and halved
