The cookies:

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

3/4 teaspoon kosher salt

3/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg + more for sprinkling over the top

8 ounces unsalted butter, at room temperature

1 1/4 cups sugar

2 egg yolks

1/2 cup prepared eggnog

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon rum

The icing:

4 ounces unsalted butter, at room temperature

4 ounces cream cheese, softened

2 cups powdered sugar

1 1/2 tablespoons rum

1 teaspoon lemon juice

Dash kosher salt

Fresh nutmeg for grating, if desired
