1 tbsp vegetable or sunflower oil

3 green chillies , seeded and cut into qurters lengthways

400.0g can chopped tomatoes

1½ tsp fennel seeds

half a 250g bag baby spinach leaves

½ tsp nigella seeds (look for these in supermarkets)

1 medium onion , chopped

2-3 tsp light muscovado sugar

1.0 tbsp chopped fresh coriander

1.0 tsp paprika

1.0 tbsp tamarind paste

410.0g can chickpeas , drained and rinsed

natural yogurt and chapatis, to serve

1.0 tsp turmeric
