10 medium-sized cucumbers, washed, pared, sliced

3/4 cup salt

1/2 pound dry mustard

4 tablespoons cornstarch or flour

1 cup water

1 teaspoon turmeric

1 1/2 quarts cider vinegar

3 cups sugar
