They can omit the butter or substitute it for a healthier oil. Everything else in the recipe sounds yum.

Please keep looking, if you want to make granola! No need to eat a cup of butter with your granola. It is actually delicious without fat, or with a drizzle of a healthier oil (canola, mild olive, coconut, walnut, to name a few!

Ingredients for 15 servings

1 cup walnut halves

1 cup whole almonds, with skins

8 cups old-fashioned rolled oats

2 sticks (1/2 pound) unsalted butter, melted

1/3 cup honey, at room temperature

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/4 cup salted, roasted green pumpkin seeds (see tip, below)

1 cup dried currants

1 cup chopped dates

3/4 cup chopped dried strawberries or dried sour cherries
