1/2 cup finely chopped macadamia nuts (not toasted)

2 cups gold medall all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 eggs

1/2 cup butter , softened (do not use margarine)

1/4 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup buttermilk

4 ounces cream cheese , softened

GARNISH

1/4 cup coarsely chopped toasted macadamia nuts

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 1/4 cups mashed ripe bananas (2 to 3 medium)

CAKE

FROSTING

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

2 teaspoons ground ginger

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

4 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
