1 tablespoon chives

1 tablespoon anchovy paste, or 2 anchovies, finely minced

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon toasted pine nuts

1 tablespoon raisins, plumped for 20 minutes in hot water

bulb fennel, thinly sliced, with a bit of the green part chopped finely and thrown in

pinch of saffron

3/4 pound pasta, preferably fresh and preferably fettucine
