1/2 cup (packed) dark brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons grape seed oil

1 cup canned solid-pack pumpkin (not pie filling)*

2 large eggs

3/4 cup canned solid-pack pumpkin (not pie filling)*

1 1/4 cups whole milk

1/2 cup maple syrup

8 large egg yolks

Accompaniment: vanilla ice cream (optional)

*1 (15-ounce) can solid-pack pumpkin = 1 3/4 cups, just enough for the cake and the pudding.
