pink cherry powdered food coloring (the end color will depend on how much you use)

1/2 cup (100gr) sugar

2 large egg whites

1 1/2 sticks (6 ounces) unsalted butter, at room temperature

1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom

1/8 teaspoon star anise
