Two 2 1/2 to 3 pound sugar pie pumpkins

1 large sweet onion, peeled and cut into large chunks

4 cloves garlic, peeled

8 sage leaves

1 cup water

1 quart stock (chicken, turkey or vegetable)

1 tablespoon cider vinegar

1 cup whole milk
