2 slices bacon, cut into 1/2-inch pieces

1/2 cup onion, chopped

1/2 cup celery, chopped

14 1/2 ounces whole peeled tomatoes, canned, undrained and crushed

14 1/2 ounces whole new potatoes, canned, drained and cubed

8 ounces clam juice, bottled

6 1/2 ounces chopped clams, canned, drained and rinsed

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

1/4 teaspoon thyme

1/8 teaspoon pepper

1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
