  • 2 Tbsps granulated sugar
  • 3 Fuji apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
  • 3/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 ripe but firm pears, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1 Tbsp grated ginger
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold butter, cut into small cubes, plus more for buttering the dish
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
