  • 1 lb fava beans in the shell (this will yield approximately 1/2 cup of shelled, peeled fava beans)
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 medium shallot, finely diced (approximately 1 Tbsp)
  • 2 tbsp grated Pecorino-Romano
  • kosher salt
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 x (1/2-inch) slices good quality bakery bread, such as Olga
