3/4 cup sugar

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 package (10 ounces) dried figs, stemmed and coarsely chopped (about 1 1/2 cups)

1 1/2 teaspoons finely grated lemon zest (from 1 lemon)
