1 apple, sliced thinly

1 small red onion, thinly sliced

1/3 cup apple cider or juice

2 tablespoons grapeseed oil or vegetable oil

2 tablespoons maple syrup

1/4 cup crushed pecans, or 1/4 cup toasted slivered almonds (the original recipe called for almonds)
